I have enjoyed 4 JBL Charges 2 and 3 but wanted something with more range, not just great bass. After reading many glowing reviews I ordered the Flip 6. It sounded really good- intimate, sweet and true to ads, the instruments came through, but the loudness wasn’t there. I had explored Klipsch
(fantastic – we have it for our TV) but they didn’t have the product I needed. Then I read the Soundcore reviews and comparisons to JBL Extreme and Charge 5. I had one of the original Anker “triangles” – weird and tiny but sounded pretty good. So I ordered the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus- quite a mouthful. Out of the box I was worried…. It felt too light compared to JBL. That sleek JBL design was replaced with a kind of sick Chinese joke…. it really is a boom box! Embarrassing design. Big. The pictures don’t do it’s ugliness justice! However, whew, I couldn’t believe the sound. I did do equalizer adjustments to my liking- very nice. But the aesthetic was terrifying. I figured what the heck – let’s see if the JBL Charge 5 will hold up in a side by side comparison. It came – so cute, so elegant, so pleasing to look at and touch. It paired like a dream – as did the Soundcore. But that’s it. There is NO comparison in the depth of sound, the stereo and the warmth of the Core. Price is comparable (I scored a $30.00 coupon on it too!) In every case I sampled many styles and recording types – the Core won. No distortion that I could detect at highest dbls. It takes on Rap, acoustic and Classical well. Is it perfect? No- but for a portable Bluetooth with aux I might add, a huge plus it’s just great. If you listen to rock, rap etc only, then get the JBL. But if you want a great sound across genres embrace it’s “retroness” and go for the Soundcore.

Love this speaker. I really like this speaker! It’s loud the battery is long lasting and it will hold a charge for a couple days ! Soundcore is a wonderful company I did have an issue with the battery I’m not sure if it was defective but it didn’t happen until 6 months and at that point it was to late to go through Amazon but soundcore took care of everything for me I received a new one 2 days later after calling them! And it was a relief because the speaker is not cheap! It’s great quality it comes with a strap and metal hooks on the side that are durable and won’t just snap off , the strap makes it easy to travel with ! We took it to the beach we take it everywhere on every vacation! There is no problem hooking it up to Bluetooth on your phone it also has a way to charge your phone from the speaker if you need to. Overall I think the speaker is great ! It is easy to use it is quality for the money it’s waterproof it’s everything you need for a speaker ! And most important the sound is awesome and it’s super loud!!! I would buy another one if I needed to !

Venant d’une Tronsmart Mega Pro que je trouvais déjà excellente pour son prix, j’ai acheté cette Soundcore Motion Boom Plus pendant les promotions du Black Friday pour 120€. Après avoir été très impressionné par les Life P2, j’ai voulu retenter ma chance avec une de leurs enceintes Bluetooth. Après plus de 2 mois d’utilisation, le résultat est sans appel : cette enceinte est incroyable !
Le design :
Autant le dire tout de suite, cette enceinte est assez brute de décoffrage dans son design. Elle est faite en grande majorité de plastique ABS qui peut paraître cheap au premier abord. Les haut-parleurs sont protégés par une grille métallique qui traduit un certain sérieux dans la qualité de fabrication. En réalité, ce plastique est bien épais, ne craque pas, et résistera bien aux chocs ou aux immersions dans l’eau (l’enceinte est certifiée IP67). Et justement, n’est-ce pas tout ce qu’on peut demander à la coque d’une enceinte Bluetooth ? Certes, elle n’a pas la splendeur du tissu d’une JBL ou d’une Marshall, mais cette coque remplit parfaitement le rôle pour lequel elle a été conçue ! De plus, cette enceinte possède des radiateurs passifs sur les côtés qui sont franchement impressionnants !
L’autonomie :
Annoncée à 20h d’autonomie, je peux affirmer après 2 mois d’utilisation qu’elle est bien réelle et non gonflée comme beaucoup trop d’enceintes concurrentes. Evidemment, avec le son à 100% du volume, vous n’aurez pas 20h d’autonomie, mais facilement 8 à 10h (largement le temps d’une soirée par exemple). De plus, vous pouvez utiliser l’enceinte comme une Powerbank, ce qui signifie que vous pouvez l’utiliser pour recharger votre smartphone (elle délivre une puissance de 10W, à 5V/2A sur un port USB-A standard).
Venant de la Mega Pro et ses 10h d’autonomie, réduits à 5h voire 6h au mieux au bout de plus de 2 ans d’utilisation, c’est nettement plus confortable ! A noter que contrairement à la Mega Pro, la Motion Boom Plus ne se bride pas selon son niveau de charge. Et bien que cela paraisse anodin, c’est en réalité un réel avantage, car c’était certainement le plus gros défaut de la Mega Pro (elle se bridait de façon assez violente et brutale lorsqu’elle passait sous 50% de charge). Sur la Soundcore, un léger bridage apparaît à 20% de charge, mais c’est tout à fait raisonnable.
L’enceinte se recharge en un peu plus de 3h voire 4h si elle est totalement déchargée avec un chargeur 5V/3A.
La qualité sonore :
Ce point est sans doute le plus réussi de cette enceinte. Le rendu sonore est limpide, très puissant et surtout d’un équilibre rarissime sur une enceinte portable ! Tout est parfaitement équilibré, des basses aux aigus, et on pourrait même croire que le son produit par cette dernière provient d’un système Hi-Fi tant la qualité sonore est excellente ! J’ai été très étonné car je suis très exigeant au niveau qualité sonore.
La puissance annoncée de 80W est réellement là (et pas gonflée comme chez certains constructeurs), et surtout, elle est là que l’enceinte soit sur batterie ou sur secteur (contrairement à la Xtreme 3 de JBL par exemple).
Plus précisément, les basses sont impressionnantes pour une enceinte de cette taille, elle atteint les 50 Hz et peut même toucher les 40 Hz sur certaines musiques ! Aussi, cette enceinte possède un bouton BassUp : honnêtement je trouve son utilité assez relative dans le sens où si vous désactivez ce bouton, les basses disparaissent. Alors laissez-le activé, à moins que vous écoutiez une musique très chargée en basses ou l’effet BassUp pourrait générer une sorte de bouillie sonore.
Les médiums sont précis, les caisses claires sonnent remarquablement, tout comme les voix d’ailleurs, et les haut-médiums sont puissants sans être envahissants, et l’oreille humaine étant très sensible à ces fréquences, c’est suffisamment rare pour être précisé !
Les aigus sont eux aussi très bons, cristallins et précis sans être perçants. Il ne sont jamais stridents, quel que soit le volume sonore.
Le plus impressionnant avec cette enceinte, c’est sa capacité à gérer la puissance des basses en fonction du volume sonore, je m’explique : Sur beaucoup d’enceintes concurrentes, surtout chez JBL, le rendu des basses est excellent jusqu’à 80% du volume maximum, où celles-ci vont faiblir brutalement jusqu’à 100% du volume, où il ne reste que des médiums et des aigus.
Sur la Motion Boom Plus, ce problème est inexistant. Les basses conservent le même impact quel que soit le volume.
(A noter que le problème des radiateurs passifs qui se gonflent lorsque vous mettez l’enceinte au soleil a été résolu depuis longtemps déjà, vous pouvez l’acheter sans problème si comme moi vous craigniez ce défaut de conception).
L’application mobile :
L’application Soundcore est disponible sur Android comme sur iOS, et c’est certainement l’une des plus complètes si ce n’est pas la plus complète. Vous pouvez régler le volume de l’enceinte (si vous avez désactivé le volume absolu qui a tendance à dégrader la qualité sonore sur cette enceinte), mettre à jour le firmware (j’en ai déjà eu 3 en 2 mois), choisir des profils d’égaliseurs intégrés ou créer les vôtres. Il est même possible d’éteindre l’enceinte à distance, pratique si vous l’utilisez en tant que barre de son pour votre TV par exemple. (Vous pouvez connecter jusqu’à 2 appareils simultanément sur l’enceinte).
Mais le plus intéressant avec cette application, c’est que si vous créez votre propre profil d’égaliseur, contrairement à toutes les autres applications qui vont se contenter d’égaliser le son de votre smartphone pour l’envoyer à l’enceinte, là, c’est l’enceinte elle-même qui apprend le profil d’égaliseur que vous avez créé. Cela signifie qu’une fois que vous avez trouvé une courbe d’égaliseur qui vous convient, l’enceinte le retiendra même si elle est connectée à un autre appareil ou si elle est éteinte.
Cette fonctionnalité devrait exister chez tous les constructeurs, et pourtant, à ma connaissance seul Soundcore y a pensé !
En conclusion, c’est une excellente enceinte Bluetooth en tous points qui concurrence largement une JBL Xtreme 3 vendue 3 fois plus cher, et qui se rapproche même de la Boombox 3 sans pour autant en avoir la puissance, mais une qualité sonore largement comparable ! En comparaison à une Marshall cette fois-ci, la Soundcore tiendra une Stanmore III, aura peut-être un design un peu moins adapté à un salon, mais sera surtout étanche et capable de fonctionner sur batterie ! Si ses quelques faiblesses de vous dérangent pas, foncez pour l’acheter car une enceinte de cette qualité à ce prix-là, on en verra pas souvent !
En points positifs :
– Une qualité sonore absolument remarquable à ce prix, et surtout pour cette taille !
– Une autonomie excellente compte tenu de la puissance de l’enceinte
– Un poids réduit grâce aux haut-parleurs à aimants néodyme (seulement 2,5 Kg)
– La précision des basses, quel que soit le volume
– L’application mobile très complète
– Le suivi de l’enceinte par les mises à jour de firmware régulières
– La présence d’une prise Jack 3,5mm si vous souhaitez l’utiliser avec un appareil non-Bluetooth
– La possibilité de démonter l’enceinte aisément pour en remplacer la batterie (+ de longévité)
En points négatifs :
– Le design un peu trop simpliste et “plastique”, même si c’est très subjectif
– L’utilisation du codec Bluetooth SBC, alors que le travail réalisé sur la qualité sonore mériterait largement de l’Aptx HD, voire du LDAC

Review for Motion Boom Plus.
What a great time we live in! The volume, the bass, the sound quality- top notch. And being able to buy it during BF for $120?, made it a relatively painless purchase. It started at closer to $180.
So- as much as I love it, I need to get this out of the way- I’m really disappointed with the battery life. I use it so much that having a good battery life is super important to me. It gets about 30-40% less battery life than I’d like and expected. This is the only real knock I have on this outstanding boom box, and is the only reason I’m knocking off a point for what is otherwise a solid 5 Star bit of kit.
I ride in a bicycle social club, about 40-50 of us take to the streets with analog and ebikes and cruise along the beach, stop, cruise some more, get food, etc. It’s wonderful having a boombox with such great sound that I can wear around my neck and blast out tunes for everyone. It does pretty well outside, which of course is the hardest thing for any speaker to do given there’s no walls for sound to bounce off of.
I actually have another boom box, bought some years ago, that beats this one, the Klipsch KMC3. That sucker has dual 4.5” woofers! But it weighs half again as much, no built-in batteries, no strap or carrying handle. As a stationary speaker for TV, it’s excellent, but for everything else I’d take this guy in a heartbeat.
I like having the onboard EQ, saves having to dig one up from whatever device I’m using. Love the strap, it’s highly adjustable. The weight for the sound quality is excellent. The sound quality is very good, rich, and having the BASS button on top is very helpful.
Some things I wish it had/did: these are preferences, and unlike the battery, don’t deserve to have points taken off:
– For general use, the ON button needs to be illuminated, brightly, and why isn’t it placed as the first button from the right? It needs to be to the very most far right so that, in the dark, or when you’re reaching and can’t see it, that button is right where you need it to be, the first and most obvious button you come to.
– Riding with it around my neck on these bike rides, I sure wish it was more ergonomically designed: The volume Plus/Minus buttons could be designed so that as I’m feeling for them it’s completely obvious what they are and where they are. And they need to be more tactile, there’s a slight click with minimal pressure, which is nice, but they need a stronger click or way of registering that you’ve pressed it
– I wish they’d separate the Pause/FF button in the middle so that it was easier to find by feel. Also, that it included a triple press for going back
Long story short- I’d love to give it a full 5 star rating, it really is an outstanding speaker for the money. But battery life needs to be improved! That said, I’d still buy it again in a heartbeat.

I really like this speaker! It’s loud the battery is long lasting and it will hold a charge for a couple days ! Soundcore is a wonderful company I did have an issue with the battery I’m not sure if it was defective but it didn’t happen until 6 months and at that point it was to late to go through Amazon but soundcore took care of everything for me I received a new one 2 days later after calling them! And it was a relief because the speaker is not cheap! It’s great quality it comes with a strap and metal hooks on the side that are durable and won’t just snap off , the strap makes it easy to travel with ! We took it to the beach we take it everywhere on every vacation! There is no problem hooking it up to Bluetooth on your phone it also has a way to charge your phone from the speaker if you need to. Overall I think the speaker is great ! It is easy to use it is quality for the money it’s waterproof it’s everything you need for a speaker ! And most important the sound is awesome and it’s super loud!!! I would buy another one if I needed to !

From a hearing Impaired User – The best portable Speaker I’ve ever used, period. I have poor hearing and use high quality hearing devices.I’ve purchased and tried other portable high end speakers including the BOSE MINI II, a pair of Apple Mini pods, a Phillips and a HP bluetooth speaker. Even a bookshelf stereo system.While the Bose MINI II has decent audio for its small profile, it does not come close to to the full range of audio as perceived by me. The mini bookshelf system was so-so over all for audio quality; especially dialog.I struggle with dialog (spoken or sung) as well as higher frequencies and in the past vocals, the twang of guitar (acoustic or electric), violins and other string instruments were a challenge to hear fully across the frequency range.I read several non-Amazon reviews on this Anker model and all of them gave it the highest ratings including one website calling it, “the portable speaker of the year”!You may ask, how good can a review be from a person who does not hear well.My response to a question like that is, if I can hear low, medium and high frequencies now on this Anker (using my hearing devices of course) as well as the words of spoken or sung of both male and female, imagine how good this will sound to those with no or a minimal hearing loss.This is the first speaker for me that is so easy to hear for lows, mids and higher frequencies. The twang of a guitar, the beat of a drum or a Bass Guitar and most importantly dialog, lyrics, and beautiful voices of singing that all come through on this!The Soundcore app works quite well on my iPhone and iPad. I enjoy the equalizer preset settings which work well under most circumstances, but, having the ability to custom tailer all of the frequencies and save them under a custom name are a blessing for me. The app gives you full access for tweaking all frequencies and saving as many as needed for future use!I’ve got some older music CDs ripped for streaming and a few of them actually sound far better using my custom settings then the pre-sets in this App. I will say again that the pre-sets seem to work well for most listening though. The default setting called “balanced” works well for me. Sometimes turning on the enhanced BASS setting is needed, but, if a piece of music is heavy on the BASS, I turn it off and still have sufficient BASS for that track. Dialog often does -not- need the enhanced BASS turned on because human voices are typically in the middle frequency ranges, not lower where deeper BASS is. Voices even without enhanced BASS on are fine for fullness and depth (they sound realistic).As for build quality, the outer casing for this Anker Motion Boom Plus is solid and well made. The speaker grills are heavy gauge and the lugs where you attached the strap are solidly made of metal!Given the excellent reviews by the PROs (CNET, etc) on line for this Anker model as well as the many 5 star Amazon reviews and other websites by owners/users, …..honestly,…none of them are inflated. The high ratings exist for a reason, this speaker is exceptional!This “boom box” offers some exceptional audio quality along with clear dialog and very sufficient BASS and if it works for me being hearing impaired, as I said, it will work even better for those who do not suffer any hearing loss.My only regret now is that I did not buy a pair to pair of them to use together in Bluetooth as left and right stereo and I will be ordering a second one soon to do just that!5 Stars all around, I’m so delighted to have finally found a portable sound system that I can hear so very well no matter what I am streaming to it! The App alone deserves 5 stars and it is a vital asset for those wishing to fine tune their audio experiance.

Sound quality: at low and medium volumes this sounds absolutely incredible. The base is very deep and rich like something you would get out of a powered subwoofer. At higher volumes you realize that this is not magic, the drivers max out fairly quickly and the base starts to distort. If you are looking for a speaker for around a campfire this cannot be beat. If you are looking for a speaker to host a large outdoor party, you might be disappointed.Battery life: The battery life on this is adequate, as long as you expect to plug it in each night you will never be let down. If you plan to take it with you for a weekend you will have to budget your time or volume.Size/ weight: It is a little bit of an awkward size, it is too big to conveniently take in a golf cart so you have to use the basket behind you. It is however extremely light so it is not a pain to take places at all. The handle and strap are extremely helpful when going to a barbeque in your hands are full.Waterproof? The very first thing I did with this was throw it in the pool to see if it is truly waterproof. I can say without any doubt it is completely waterproof and can easily be dropped or submerged in water for brief periods without any short-term or long-term issues.Summary: if you were looking for a speaker to have in a room or around a fire or on a deck for a small gathering of under 15 people, this will be plenty. At anything under 75% volume the base sounds extraordinary, the meds are accurate and the highs are sharp and detailed. It performs way outside of its size. If you were looking for something to flood a large outdoor area or overtake a lot of peoples conversation volume (15+ drunk people) This will not be big enough unless you pull all of the bass out of it at which point it doesn’t sound very good anymore. Absolutely worth the money but again, manage your expectations
