Not good. Not user friendly at all! App never worked properly and HP service is useless. Now I have an E3 blinking and all it tells meIs that somehow causing the cartridge to jam. There is nothing in there. Of course it’s out of warranty!!!

Good simple printer. Update:SUBSCRIPTION BEWARE: we signed up for the HP instant ink. Thought we’d get more out of a monthly plan than buying the cartridge outright. Cancelled our plan about 2 years in because we weren’t using it like we use to. Found out that while I have FULL ink cartridges in my printer, my printer will not print because I don’t have a plan. The app literally told me I cannot use those cartridges anymore without an instant ink plan. I didn’t see that fine print anywhere…. That’s garbage because you’ll never run out of ink before the automatic plan sends another cartridge… not my thought on environmentally friendly.I bought a printer because we had an older HP8600 which aside from being super bulky/big, was starting to have issues printing on the edges (we’ve had that printer for over 8 years). I found the Envy 6455 and the biggest concern I saw was setting it up. I actually found the setup process the easiest. I downloaded the app, and it took less than 20 minutes to complete the entire process. I needed a simple home computer to print the random documents, and something a little sleeker. The cons I am finding after owning it for a few months are the following:The light stays on always where the completed documents come out. We have the printer in our little desk area that is in the nook of our hallway. So it is a bright night light that I am not the fondest of. I cover it with a piece of paper each night. If anyone unplugs our wifi at night, then that thing flashes constantly until the wifi is plugged back in.The second con, which is my biggest con, is the software. I have a good wifi connection, but the printer is always a fight to print wirelessly. Case in point, we still have the old printer and are using it for small things until the ink runs out (ink is expensive). I can send a job to the Envy and it is “finding” the printer because it’s unavailable or not connected, though everything is and we haven’t touched anything. I switch the job to my old one and it prints right away… old printer is sitting beside the new one, or in the same area. So I don’t understand what the problem is.The envy also takes a few minutes to print. My old one prints within seconds of sending the job, the Envy can take a few minutes before it starts. I’m not in a rush to print out jobs, so this doesn’t bother me… but when I don’t know if it’s even actually printing or still “finding” the printer, then the delay becomes a problem.I like the sleekness and the quality of the print job. I like the price of the ink, though the color comes in a bundle rather than 3 separate cartridges. On my other printer, I had to normally change the color cartridges right around the same time though, so this didn’t really bother me. The HP ink program is really nice so far too. Very cheap for us with our printing quantity versus the price of ink cartridges. We won’t spend the price of both the black cartridge and color cartridge in the year of monthly charges we incur. There is a touch area to manually do jobs, but everything else is on the app on your computer or phone. I did a print away from home which worked nicely. But the computer being “active” is a problem through my phone app too. So I am not sure if it is my particular printer or the software or the HP Smart print app.

FROZE AFTER EVERY PRINT JOB UNTIL. I ordered the printer on 12/28/20 and it arrived 2 days later (I live in Hawaii so this was really fast for us). I got it all set up but it seemed to be freezing after every single print job. It was on the WiFi yet it would say that it was offline. The printer would not turn off so the only way to reset it was to unplug it, plug it back in, and restart it. The first couple of times I thought it might be my WiFi or my computer, but it happened with every single print job. It got so bad I named her Elsa, and I was going to let her go (via a return for a defective item). The replacement was not expected until February (they are currently out of stock). In the meantime I googled the problem wondering if this was a common occurrence with this printer. Someone posted a solution in the HP forum. He said he uninstalled the printer, did a factory reset, and reinstalled. He also mentioned that HP would have to be called if you use the “instant ink” option because the cartridges would no longer be recognized (this did not apply to me but I figured I would mention it in case someone else does). So I uninstalled, reset, and reinstalled. So far, so good! My only issue now is that my replacement ink has not arrived yet and I am almost out of ink in the tiny cartridge that initially comes with the computer. Ha ha. I have been able to print from my computer (more than one job), and my phone with no freezing! I cancelled my return/replacement.

The Crafter’s Delight – Restoring my faith in HP! **UPDATE**. I spent months trying to make a decision about replacing my Epson 2200. I just couldn’t deal with the clogged printheads anymore. All of the other printers in my home and business, are HP. But over the years, I have become spoiled by the outstanding quality of the color printing of the Epson 2200 Photo printer. So, I was really torn between buying another Epson or buying an HP color printer. My SIL solved the dilemma when she gave me Hannukah cash and told me to purchase something that I really needed in my studio! I purchased the HP Envy Pro 6455. The price was great (I had enough cash left over to buy more craft supplies) and the features were appealing.I must say that I was surprised by the quality of the printing on the Envy! In addition to creating greeting cards, I am an avid planner and I like to design and print my own stickers for my planners. The quality of the color prints is wonderful. I use #28 paper for my planner pages and both matte and glossy sticker paper. The Envy handled both of these media very well.I was able to set up this printer in a very short period of time. I had not upgraded my Mac OS and so I had to locate High Sierra 10.13.6 because the printer will not work on lower OS versions. Once that was done, the rest was easy peasy. The printer located my network and installed itself really. I signed up for the ready ink program because I find it convenient and after doing the math, I know that the plan I chose will be a money saver for me. I also liked the fact that you can roll over unused pages.UPDATE (JUNE 2022) I have been using my printer with Alexa, my Silhouette Cameo, my Curio, and my Cameo 4. I continue to be blown away by the efficiency of this printer. The HP Envy is a powerhouse and a little workhorse. I have had 19 months of trouble-free printing!I saw a few reviews that mentioned a lack of printed documentation for this printer and I must say that there is no need for huge printed manuals anymore. I was able to get all of my questions answered using the Virtual Assistant at the HP Smart site.
