I bought this headset to test its sound quality, and boy, was I impressed. You can get signal via 3.5mm, USB, Bluetooth, and the wireless dongle included. You can also pair two devices at the same time, meaning there is no lack of connectivity. Overall, Sound quality (5/5), Comfort (4/5), Battery (5/5), Ease of use (5/5), Software (4/5), and general quality (5/5).
In terms of SQ, these give my HD650’s a run for their money. The Maxwell is also a planar driver, so it makes sense. I showed a couple of friends some Tame Impala .flac’s on these, and they said they heard parts they never had before. It is the best sounding via 3.5mm, but that is not to say the other modes are lacking. Bluetooth supports LDAC, and songs were making me smile while listening from my S22 Ultra. I haven’t tried aptx or any of the other codecs, but I’m sure the Maxwell handles them fine. USB sounds alright, and the wireless dongle works just fine, it is just noticeable to an audiophile who cares too much. I personally think wireless headsets and wireless signal transmission has another two years before it catches up to where low-mid level wired systems are. 5/5 for the price and market.
Comfort-wise, I had to buy the Wicked Cushion model for these. They fit well from the start, a little heavy but to be expected. However, the ear cups are far too shallow, and my big ears were rubbing in all sorts of places. The WC’s alleviated this issue. Unfortunately, the headset fit adjustment requires a small screwdriver and moving some mildly annoying screws. They have a good clamping force and the weight wasn’t too much for me. I prefer light open back wired headsets for most things, but obviously this isn’t that and so for what this is, it is good. 3/5 before WC’s. 4/5 after, should be 3/5 for the annoying adjustment procedure, but I really do like this headphone so grace.
Battery life is amazing. Went down 15% in roughly 8 hours of use over 2 days after I first got it. For reference my Corsair Virtuoso XT was going through like 8% an hour. Amazing, not much else to say. 5/5
Ease of use. Like I said, there is no lack of connectivity. It will take almost any conventional way you can output signal to it. It also connected to my phone via bluetooth whilst connected to my PC via 3.5mm. The USB input for some reason did not sound as good to me, but it could be due to other reasons in my PC’s setup with audio output.
The software is good and does what you need it to. Unfortunately for a Corsair fanboy such as myself it is not iCUE, and is quite unappealing to look at. Completely biased. 4/5.
Overall, this is an amazing headphone for the price. It sounds GOOD. It’s easy to use. Audeze is a great and reputable company. The build quality on these is exceptional. They look good, feel good, sound great, and perform excellently. Each point I touched on, except for comfort, is a plus for the headphone. I solved my comfort issue with the WC’s, but there is a reasonable amount of feedback in the community over discomfort with these. Personally I think they are worth it, and would rate them a 5/5.

This review is based on my experience using the Audeze Maxwell compared to my Hyper X alphas and dt 990 pro. I was looking for a wireless headset that will be great for music, movies and games to replace my fav dt 990 pros. Unfortunately the search continues
Pros:
-great mic that blocks out background noise (really impressed)
-comfortable (even though its heavy)
-sound is good for games but I experienced weird glitch that would take out all the bass. To fix I’d have to restart the app and change sound profile! Maybe its an isolated incident with my system.
-dongle uses usb c
-great battery life
-great button layout
-easy to mix chat and game volume
cons:
-expensive
-sound quality is unimpressive for music and movies imo
-unreliable software
Don’t get me wrong the sound is good overall but compared to my dt 990 pros it’s really lacking. Its only slightly better than my Hyper X alphas because it has better bass. In terms of pin pointing enemies this does a great job. However for movies and music the sound was meh. If I didn’t have the dt 990 pro i would’ve thought this was a great headset unfortunately I’ve been spoiled by how amazing the dt 990 pro’s are.

I love this headset! Audio quality their wireless blows me away everytime I use it. Battery life is incredible (I’ve only had to charge it once since my purchase in early June). Though heavy I can wear this for hours without any issues (very well engineered). Microphone feedback from friends was a notable positive. Side tone function is great for certain scenarios and can be quite useful. Update to the headset and dongle was easy through my PC. Use between PC and PS5 is excellent with no compatibility issues. I use it for gaming, music, movies, and the occasional live concert viewing and exceeds at everything above and beyond in my opinion.
The only slight negative is the software could use some updates but it is certainly not a deal breaker and does what it needs to.
Hands down the best wireless headset I’ve used and now own. Very happy with it and highly recommend!

I was waiting to upgrade my headset for many years but nothing seems to have the versatility of my logitech G933. When this came out and I was very hyped about this headset and decided to finally pull the trigger. I received this unit on 3/21 and been using it daily. This headset sounds amazing. Overall, i enjoy this headset and it was a well worth purchase.
Here are some pros and cons after 2 weeks of use.
Pros:
– Headset sounds amazing and can get extremely loud. There are various presets such as bass boost and treble boost. These presets slightly boost the bass and treble and maintain very clear sound. It doesnt make the sound muddy. Setting this headset to volume of 78 is equivalent to my old headset at 100 with dolby atmos on. If i turn off dolby for the G933, the volume will be extremely low.
-Battery life: the headset battery life lasts quite long. Under the first week, i manage to get around 60 hours. I havent done a true test yet as Audeze claims 80 hours with volume being 80 dB. During my first week of use, I push this to the limits and multiple times running volume at 100 and connecting to multiple device. Overall, huge step up from my old headset which lasts ..maybe 8 hours now.
– Connection versatility – Like my old logitech, this can connect in a variety of methods- aux, usb dongle, bluetooth 5.3 and wired USB mode. All these require the headset to be turned on but the battery life is so good that its not a big deal. Also, this support mutliple bluetooth codecs SBC,AAC, LC3, LDAC.
– Connection range – the range using the dongle is quite amazing. So far for my apartment, i was able to walk out to the living room and still have good audio. Distance is about 25 ft or more. With bluetooth, it was almost as good, audio did get a little static.
-Microphone was very good . My GF said I sound clear and loud. The background noise suppression was amazing. I was able to eat chips while talking and she did not hear it. Theres also a built in mic when you remove the boom mic which is neat.
-Build quality – Aesthetic is sleek and very understated. Did not look gaudy at all. EarPads were comfortable but gets a little warm. Earpads were deep enough but after long use, my ears can eventually touch the driver. The construction feels sturdy and nice. Although makes me worry that I will scratch the paint off.
Cons:
-No simultaneous bluetooth with the dongle. Not a huge deal but this may be important for some people. You can still achieve this via usb + BT or aux + BT. Due to the nature of the dongle, I dont see wireless simultaneous BT ever being a possibility. The dongle is not a 2.4 ghz dongle. It is actually an LC3+ bluetooth dongle. Despite this, the latency is just as good. I did not notice any latency.
-Latency for gaming on phone at the moment is okay. Since most phones dont have LC3 support, we are stuck with SBC, AAC, or LDAC. All three dont have amazing latency. I play alot of rhythm games on phone and I can sense lag right away. So far SBC is the best for Android and AAC for iphones.
-Comfort – this headset is heavy so may be a dealbreaker for some people. It was fine for me with the suspension headband. One annoying thing was that on the default notch for the headband, the bottom of my top of my ears touch the inner ear pad wall. However, if i move the band notch up, it becomes too tight and the bottom of my ear now touches the earpad. I ultimately went back to default configuration and wore a hat instead.
– Software – still needs to be updated. On PC, none of the custom preset can be set at the moment. You can still use android app to set the preset on your phone and it will sync with your device I think. Also the battery indicator on the Audeze HQ for PC is not giving the right readings. If you charge to 100%, and start using, it wil quickly drop to 95%. However, the next time you turn it on, it will read 100% again. Customer support says they are working on a fix for this to show proper battery reporting.

Used many headphones over the years. Like any products, I read many reviews and watched many videos before purchase and am very happy with the performance of these headphones. Use it mainly for gaming and it’s doing a terrific job. Haven’t tried many games yet but 3d audio (for position) not that great in Days Gone… I hear zombie growls but hard to figure out which way they are coming from. The only point that worried me was the weight of the headset but I’ve played 3-4h straight with little fatigue – I do however have a very heavy head and neck to support it so maybe not the reference. Definitely recommend!!
